My Debate With Mark Levine

by Lee Doren on May 6, 2010

I had another debate Monday night with liberal talk radio host Mark Levine (not to be confused with Mark Levin). It was a fun night, and I hope to be able to do it again. As I mentioned last time, I had to take down my previous debates from YouTube. Fortunately, the newest video is below this post. Enjoy!

This guys began to lose credibility with me as soon as I heard his whining, complaining tone. This is supposed to be a debate, not an opinion piece as if it was his own show. I noticed that Lee was calm and didn't frame his arguments around emotional ranting. Speaking to a mostly progressive audience, Mark had an open door to get very emotional and lathered up, telling the crowd exactly what they want to hear. I imagine with a conservative audience, his approach would be a bit lighter, without foaming at the mouth.

Aside from the arguments, Lee is a much better debater, mainly because he remains in emotional control while framing his position. I think emotion has its place in a debate, but tempered, unlike the constant complaining that I heard from Mark.
